Rewind: School Boundaries, Man Shot in Leg, Social Haus to Open and More

A week of news from your Arlington Patch websites and Patch in the surrounding communities.

Here in Arlington, discussions about school boundaries and the county budget dominated the news. Superintendent Pat Murphy presented his plan to move 900 students around seven existing and one new school. The school system also asked for a larger transfer of funds from the county and parents expressed concern with proposed cuts to certain school programs.

The week started out with good news for southeast Arlington residents, with assurance from Harris Teeter that the Ellipse area location would reopen in the fall. It will have been closed for more than a year.

In crime news: A man was shot in the leg on Arlington Ridge late Thursday night. Arlington Police also released surveillance video from a $609,000 heist at the mall near Pentagon City. See both stories in this week’s crime rewind.
