Restaurant Inspections: Dirty Utensils, Equipment Found by Inspectors

See how your favorite Arlington restaurants fared in the latest round of inspections from the state department of health.

The following restaurants in the Clarendon, Courthouse, Rosslyn neighborhoods were recently paid visits by the the Virginia Department of Health. Establishments are inspected periodically.

Whole Foods Market Deli & Pizza
2700 Wilson Blvd.
Date of inspection: March 19
The nonfood-contact surface of the exterior of the Panini press is not kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and/or other debris.
 
Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse-Kitchen
1401 N. Adams St.
Date of inspection: March 18
After use, the mop is not placed in a position that allows it to air-dry without soiling walls, equipment, or supplies.
 
The Cheesecake Factory
2900 Wilson Blvd. #101
Date of inspection: March 18
After being cleaned, equipment food-contact surfaces and utensils are not sanitized in a chemical manual operations, using a proper solution. The soap and sanitizer were observed mixed together.
 
Northside Social
3211 Wilson Blvd.
Date of inspection: March 14
A sign or poster that notifies food employees to wash their hands is not provided at all handwashing lavatories used by food employees and/or is not clearly visible to food employees. No hand washing sign at far front line hand sink.

"Ideally, an operation would have no critical violations, or none which are not corrected immediately and not repeated. In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.

The site continues: "Keep in mind that any inspection report is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. On any given day, a restaurant could have fewer or more violations than noted in the report. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long term cleanliness of an establishment."
