If you're upcoming weekend schedule is shaping up to be two whole days of nothing, be sure to read about our top picks for fun activities.

It’s Thursday. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it. Downside? You’ve got no idea what to do during your two days of freedom.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've picked out some of the best events around D.C. and Arlington for your done-work-outta-here time. Is it 5 p.m. on Friday yet?

Where/When: , 1225 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Georgetown. Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Vineyard Vines, the ultimate prepster's store, is throwing a party. Kick off your weekend a night early at this in-store bash. The new Cherry Blossom Tie will be on sale - 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the festival. Also, get 10 percent off your whole purchase.

Where/When: , 19 I St. NW, Washington. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: This Cole Porter musical masterpiece opened on Broadway in 1948. Pretend you're stepping out the Great White Way and be sure to check out one of multiple shows this weekend. Added bonus: the tickets are cheap.

Pricing: Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

3. National Shamrockfest 2011

Where/When: RFK Festival Grounds, 2400 East Capitol St. SE, Washington. Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Dozens of Irish bands and D.J.s will be performing at this all-day affair. There will also be games, a kilt competition and - did we fail to mention? - lots of green beer.

Pricing: Tickets range from $24.99 for an individual ticket to $89.99 for a VIP ticket.

Where/When: Velocity Five, 2300 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington. All-day Saturday.

Why Go: According to the event listing, this sports bar is a must-stop if you're getting pumped about Shamrockfest. "Stop in to Velocity Five in Arlington on your way to RFK Stadium for a little pre-game pre-St. Patty's Day fun, or pop in afterward to finish out the day...You can also buy bus tickets to get you to and from V5 and RFK Stadium so that you don't drink drive on this alcohol-heavy holiday. Where/When: 14th St. N and N. Courthouse Rd, Arlington. Saturday, 8 a.m.

Why Go: You're not going to find that fresh, local produce (think peaches, tomatoes and asparagus) that we're all craving this time of year...only a few more months, though! But, if you head out to the Arlington County Farmers' and Flea Market this Saturday, you will find a variety of locally-sourced foods and products to tempt your tastebuds.
