Need ideas to get your weekend going? Look no further.

Where/When: Wolf Trap, 1645 Trap Rd., Vienna. Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: See and be seen at the 2011 Wolf Trap Ball on Saturday night. The National Park for the Performing Arts will be celebrating its 40th birthday this weekend at "one of the region’s most spectacular events."

Where/When: Heiner Contemporary, 1675 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington. Daily, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This is the solo exhibition of New York artist David Kramer. According to the , "Kramer was deeply influenced by the cultural clichés and advertisements of the 1970's. Using text, painting, and installation, he injects the glamorous images of his youth with pithy observations, personal aphorisms, and non-sequiturs to create satirized versions of the American Dream." Some of his works are available to view online.

Pricing: Open to all.

Why Go: The Georgetown Stream Team will be working its magic along Rock Creek Park on Saturday. Can you think of a better way to enjoy a perfect fall day? Bags and gloves will be provided to all volunteers.

Pricing: It's free to volunteer, obviously!

4. Washington National Opera performs "Tosca"

Where/When: The Kennedy Center, 2700 F St. NW, Washington. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: The WNO is in the midst of performing one of the most beloved operas of all time. The shows are all but sold out, but if you call The Kennedy Center, you may still be able to work some box office magic.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $25 to $300.

Where/When: Columbia Pike and S. Walter Reed Dr., Arlington. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Peaches are out. Apples are in. We're thinking pie, fritters, etc. Pick up a pumpkin or two while you're at it.
