Why Go: According to the event listing, "Enjoy special live band karaoke - holiday style with the HariKaraoke Band, a "Don't Forget the Lyrics" contest, and the Merriment Fruitcake Eating contest. Competitors can sign up to participate in these contests by emailing events@georgetowndc.com with their contact info and which activity they would like to compete in.The event will also offer gourmet Hot Cocoa Tastings from , and , plus pet adoptions from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. Wear your silliest holiday sweaters for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Show up in your best holiday sweater and take home an "I Shop Georgetown" tote bag or water bottle - you choose (while supplies last)!"

Why Go: Support this special school in Georgetown by attending its annual bazaar. According to the event listing, "This year's Bazaar will feature fine arts and artists, silver and gold jewelry, unique home decor, food vendors, and special performances from several of Duke Ellington School of the Arts' award-winning art departments. Gift raffles and a silent auction with items from vendors and sponsors will be held.  All proceeds will benefit programs at Ellington."

Why Go: If it's been a year (or more) since you've paid a visit to the Whos down in Whoville, be sure to take advantage of this free screening on Sunday. It's an all-time favorite for young and old!

4. National Symphony Orchestra Pops: The Perfect Gift with the Canadian Tenors

Where/When: , 2700 F St. NW, Washington. Thursday, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The streets of Georgetown might be swarmed with shoppers this weekend, but the view from the top of the Kennedy Center will be far above the hustle and bustle. Enjoy this holiday concert which will feature many holiday classics.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $20 to $85.
