Energy conservation tips from Dominion

Simple things that could help lower your power bill

With the summer heat comes an increased demand for electricity. Because of this, Dominion released the following tips for energy conservation:

* Raise your thermostat to at least 78 degrees, and even higher when you are away from home.

* Keep shades and curtains drawn.

* Check/clean air conditioning filters at least once a month.

* Use large appliances that generate heat -- like a dishwasher or a dryer -- after dark.

* Turn off lights in rooms you aren't in and unplug things you aren't using.
