Power Restored to 7,800 Dominion Customers in Northern Virginia

Map shows thousands of customers were in the dark on Monday afternoon.

Approximately 7,800 Dominion Power customers in Northern Virginia lost power Monday afternoon after a piece of equipment in the power company's substation failed, said Le-Ha Anderson, a spokewoman for Dominion.

Power was restored to some of those customers, most of whom live in Arlington, within 15 minutes. Power was restored to everyone by 1:51 p.m., she said. The outage lasted no more than 38 minutes.

A Dominion Power map of northern Virginia shows thousands of Arlington customers are without power Monday afternoon. The map, which was last updated at 1:44 p.m., indicates the vast majority of outages are concentrated in the Arlington area.
