Best of June: Top Stories Reflect Tragedy, Community, Tradition

A roundup of the five most-read stories in June on Clarendon Patch.

June brought a mixed bag of news, with stories both tragic and lighthearted capturing the most readers’ attention on Clarendon Patch.

The most-read story in June stemmed from a tragedy that happened earlier this month: On June 4, Arlington police say 18-year-old John Malvar was riding his skateboard while holding onto the side of a friend’s pickup truck. He crashed and died soon afterward. Malvar was a senior at Washington-Lee High School and the Arlington Career Center. His 17-year-old friend, who was driving the truck, was a junior.

On June 18, police announced that the teen driver had been charged with reckless driving. He was charged as a juvenile, and police haven’t released his identity.
