Arlington Health Inspectors Find Roaches in Restaurant

The following restaurants in Arlington neighborhoods were recently paid visits by the the Virginia Department of Health. Establishments are inspected periodically.

Insect, rodent, and/or other pest harborage conditions exist on the premises (live immature and mature German cockroaches were observed in the downstairs prep kitchen).
 
Ray's Hell Burger III
1650 Wilson Blvd.
Date of inspection: April 9
The outer openings of the food establishment are not protected against the entry of insects and rodents. Front doors observed propped open.
 
Street Corner Cafe
3033 Wilson Blvd.
Date of inspection: April 9
A food temperature-measuring device is not provided and readily accessible for use in ensuring attainment and maintenance of food temperatures.

The entire floor edges need cleaning.

The nonfood-contact surface of the cardboard used to line a couple of shelves is not corrosion-resistant, nonabsorbent, and/or smooth.

"Ideally, an operation would have no critical violations, or none which are not corrected immediately and not repeated. In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.

The site continues: "Keep in mind that any inspection report is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. On any given day, a restaurant could have fewer or more violations than noted in the report. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long term cleanliness of an establishment."
