Arlington County Snow Removal Procedures

Arlington County saw the first snowfall of the season today.

Arlington County introduced some new tools this season to keep track of snowfall, ice, or freezing rain, just in time for the first snowfall of the season today.

The snow removal team includes 92 drivers and 46 trucks with salt spreaders and plows.

Arlington has implemented a phase system (phase 1, 2, 3, or 4) to share with residents snow removal efforts and see how to prepare for the winter weather. On Wednesday, the county was in phase 1, which means that snow crews are on alert and treating roads where necessary. View snow removal updates here.

The county also has nearly doubled the number of traffic cameras that monitor road conditions this year. The snow and ice central page features 40 more cameras this year, for a total of 83 traffic cameras. View current road conditions here.

The County’s Snow Removal Ordinance requires all Arlington property owners to clear snow and ice from public sidewalks adjacent to their property within a designated time period. To learn more about the ordinance, read the FAQs.
