How to Throw an Oscars Party at Home

The Oscars will air this Sunday March 2nd on ABC at 7 PM/EST and will be hosted by Ellen Degeneres.

The Academy Awards has been my favorite awards show since I dreamed of becoming an actress at 10 years old. That’s some time ago! Before marriage and kids, I would dream of the day that I would make it to the Oscars in an ensemble cast for a film that was nominated or even possibly as a “seat filler“. (Side Note: Let’s face it, I didn’t have any grandiose ideas that I’d be nominated as an actress, but just about anyone with a good headshot could work as a seat filler).

That dream eventually faded. I got married, had two kids and settled on attending a handful of  local Academy Awards Viewing Parties in Washington, D.C. Those days are over too. And instead, this weekend, I will patiently try to put my kids to bed before the E! Live From the Red Carpet Oscars ends and the Oscars Award Show begins. Wish me luck with that one!

After the kiddies are tucked in safe and sound and I’m confident they’re asleep, my babysitter will arrive so that my husband and I can finally escape to our neighbor’s house, where we’ve all collaborated to throw a “Kick Ass Oscar’s Party”. And you can too! Here’s our plan
