Sedona | Slate Towers Officially Open in Rosslyn

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches is the first business to sign a lease for the towers' retail space.

Sedona | Slate is officially open.

The new mixed-use community, at 1510 and 1530 Clarendon Blvd. in Rosslyn, features 474 apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches is the first retailer to sign a lease in the retail space.

Sedona | Slate features 474 units, about 55 of which are considered affordable to families making about $64,000 annually. Leases on all of the affordable units were signed last month.

The community features two towers — one is 15 stories tall; the other, 12 — and is about three blocks from the Rosslyn Metro Station. Affordable housing aside, about 70 percent of the units in one tower have already been leased.

The development is certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, Gold. That was achieved by using wind power energy credits, high-efficiency water faucets and light-colored roofing materials, according to a news release. Residents with hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles will be given preferred parking spaces in the 427-space garage.

“Sedona | Slate is the kind of community that needs to be part of Arlington County’s future — sustainable, transit-oriented and with an affordable component,” Arlington County Board Chairman Walter Tejada said in a statement. “We applaud JBG for its leadership and welcome this new community to Rosslyn.”

The towers feature an urban "pocket park" with grilling and outdoor seating, the release states.

Each tower will have a club room with a bar, large-screen TVs, billiard tables and an outdoor deck and bar. Each also has a rooftop pool, sun deck and fitness center.

“We are extremely pleased to be advancing sustainable and mixed-income communities in Arlington with Sedona | Slate,” said Kai Reynolds, a JBG partner, said in a statement. The JGB Cos. were the developer on this project.

“And we are even more pleased to have created this showcase property through a collaborative effort with Arlington County and the Rosslyn community. It is a process and relationship that we look forward to continuing,” Reynolds stated.
