in Clarendon is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a block party Saturday featuring 99-cent smoothies and free shots of wheatgrass.
Nearby businesses like and will be on hand for the celebration, which runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. South Block is at the corner of 11th Street North and Garfield Street, not far from the Clarendon Metro.
"It's been really good. Better than we expected," said manager Ashley Green. "It's just to promote the fact that we've been here a year, and we're still going strong."
Construction across the street has slowed things a little bit for the past couple of weeks. Otherwise, the shop has stayed busy, Green said.
"It has been an incredible year, and I have personally really enjoyed getting to know our customers and fellow business owners,” owner Amir Mostafavi said in a statement. “I love this community and am proud to be a part of it … hopefully for years to come.”
