Lotus Grill & Noodles, a fine-dining restaurant serving Vietnamese food, has opened in Shirlington Village.
“We would like to bring specialty Vietnamese food to the community,” said owner Tony Nguyen, who opened the restaurant last week with his wife, Krista Bui. “There aren’t many Vietnamese places for fine dining.”
Nguyen, who immigrated to the United States from Saigon in 1984, opened the business after being an electrical engineer.
“I worked for the government for over 12 years and I wanted to change to another career,” he said. “I like to talk to people and meet people instead of just sitting in an office within the four walls.”
Nguyen left his job in 2010 after first dipping his toes in the restaurant business as a partner in a Vietnamese restaurant in Chantilly.
“The restaurant business is kind of tough,” Nguyen said. “There are so many things to take care of. It’s not relaxing job. Even though my government job wasn’t so relaxing, the restaurant business is much busier.”
The restaurant specializes in Pho noodles and other Vietnamese specialties. It is located at 4041 Campbell Ave. in Shirlington.
