Original story:

The 22nd annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival, with a lineup that includes local favorite Afro Blue, takes place Saturday.

“It’s one of the largest festivals in Arlington, it’s a free festival, it’s close to the Metro, and it’s a good time,” said Lee Anne McLarty, spokeswoman for the festival.

The event drew about 7,500 people to Rosslyn last year. It takes place at Gateway Park at 1300 Lee Highway.

Afro Blue, Howard University’s vocal jazz ensemble, will perform along with singer René Marie, clarinetist Don Byron and saxophonist Joshua Redman.

In addition to the music, the festival features food and craft vendors.

The festival is sponsored by the Rosslyn Business Improvement District and is co-presented by Arlington Cultural Affairs. It will be emceed by on-air personalities from jazz station WPFW 89.3 FM, which will broadcast portions of the event live.

The festival takes place from 1 to 7 p.m. at Gateway Park. Admission is free. Call 703-228-1850 or visit www.RosslynVA.org or www.arlingtonarts.org for more information.
