starring Helen Hayes Award Winners Erin Driscoll and Chris Sizemore

Batten down the hatches! A rollicking band of pirates has landed on the rocky shores of Arlington with Encore Stage & Studio’s summer production of The Pirates of Penzance. Come see the lads who plough the sea or prepare to walk the plank!

This production runs July 19 through 29 at Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre, 125 S. Old Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia 22204 (near the intersection of Glebe Road and Arlington Boulevard/Route 50). Recommended for ages 6 and up. Adults $15; Children, Students, and Seniors $10. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at www.encorestage.org. Group discounts are available.

Joining us for this production are Helen Hayes Award Winners Chris Sizemore and Erin Driscoll, starring as Frederic and Mabel. Erin Driscoll is an Encore alum with countless credits including Signature Theatre’s Hairspay, Assassins, and Urinetown, which Driscoll received 2006 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress. Chris Sizemore has appeared in many DC area productions including Signature Theatre’s Sweeney Todd and Les Misérables, and 1776 at Ford’s Theatre. Both Chris Sizemore and Erin Driscoll are members of Actor’s Equity Association.

Handsome young Frederic has just finished an apprenticeship with a band of silly pirates. When he falls in love with the beautiful Mabel Stanley, however, he discovers that he must stay with the pirates until his 21st birthday—but he was born on Leap Day! This classic Gilbert and Sullivan musical, the first ever produced by Encore, features plenty of swashbuckling and is sure to delight the whole family!

Performance Showtimes:
Thursdays, July 19 and 26 at 8 p.m.
Fridays, July 20 and 27 at 8 p.m.
Saturdays, July 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sundays, July 22 and 29 at 2 p.m.
