Sulu DC presents the U.S. Premiere of "This Prison Where I Live"

Sulu DC and Artisphere are teaming up to present UK director Rex Bloomstein's feature documentary, “This Prison Where I Live,” which includes footage from Burma that has NEVER BEEN SEEN or broadcast before in the U.S. on March 30.

“This Prison Where I Live” follows the story of Germany's leading stand-up comic, Michael Mittermeier, as he explores the personality, the motivation and the talent of the Burmese man who describes himself as the ‘loudspeaker’ for his people. Maung Thura, better known as Zarganar, is Burma's greatest living comic.

ZARGANAR HAS BEEN CONDEMNED TO 59 YEARS IN PRISON.

Zarganar's weapons are satire, films, books, poetry and comedy. For this reason, Sulu DC is delighted to shine light on this heroic man’s personal narrative. The dynamic US premiere and awareness-raising event will feature a brief performance directed by Sulu DC’s co-founder, Simone Jacobson, a keynote speech by Zarganar’s (the film’s central figure) family members (who will also attend the screening), and a post-screening discussion with the director, Rex Bloomstein, and Bo Hla Tint, spokesman for the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB).
