Video: Mardi Gras Lets Loose in Clarendon

A family-friendly, toned-down version of Mardi Gras brought revelers to Wilson Boulevard last night.

Clarendon let its freak flag fly last night as it hosted the annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras parade down Wilson Boulevard. Marching band melodies, gaudy floats, screaming guitar solos, gaggles of little kids and a fair share of drinking and revelry made for one of Arlington's most overstimulating nights of the year.

Several security officers and spectators we talked to said that this year's celebration was more relaxed and toned down than years past, with fewer alcohol-related incidents. One woman who had attended the real Mardi Gras in the past said she found Clarendon's version to be more enjoyable and much more kid friendly.
