Storm Knocks Out Power to Hundreds Across Northern Virginia

Parts of Arlington and Fairfax County hit hardest, according to Dominion.

A fast-moving storm that dumped several inches of rain on the area Thursday night and Friday morning has knocked out power to hundreds of homes across Northern Virginia, according to Dominion Power.

Here's a breakdown of several jurisdictions seeing power outages Friday morning, as of about 8:30 a.m.:

  • Alexandria: 39 without power, scattered across the city
  • Arlington: 362 without power; a Dominion Power outage map shows that 362 homes in Arlington are without power as of 8:10 a.m. Estimates for when the power might be back on range from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to wording on the outage map. Two of the largest areas without power appear to be near George Mason Drive in Arlington, where more than 100 homes are without power. There are power outages reported in neighborhoods on both sides of Interstate 66.
  • Fairfax County: 654 without power; the hardest hit areas are scattered from the Rose Hill neighborhood near Kingstowne, where 136 homes are without power to the Vienna area, where dozens of homes in a cluster were experiencing an outage.

There are no power outages in Falls Church, according to Dominion.
