News alert: it's going to be hot this weekend. Maybe you already heard? Anyway, we're doing something a little different for our "Get Out" Guide this week - here are the top five ways you can cool down on your days off.

1. Public Skate at Kettler Capitals Iceplex

Why Go: Sure, ice skating is generally considered a cold-weather activity, but what better way to cool down than indulging in this favorite winter pastime? You may even need to wear - gasp! - long sleeves!

Pricing: Adults (age 13 and older), $8. Children, $7. Seniors (age 55 and older), $6. Skate rental is $4.

2. I scream! You scream! We all scream for ice cream (and fro-yo)!

Why Go: July is the most popular month of the year for ice cream sales and no wonder, right? You know you want some.

Why Go: Even if the temperatures are teetering around 100 degrees this weekend, it's nothing that a cold glass of white wine or a pitcher of icy, fruit sangria can't fix. To help make your selection, head on over to Bacchus Wine Cellar in Georgetown. For $20, you'll have the opportunity to sip up to 10 different types of wines and snack on hors d'oeuvres.

5. The perfect no-cook summer supper - sushi!

Why Go: Don't fire up the grill. Don't even think about turning on the oven. It's too dang hot. Saddle up at one of the area's sushi bars and enjoy a cool (or spicy) hand roll and some cold sake.
