On Monday, many of us are planning on grilling outside, watching some fireworks, enjoying time with family and friends and maybe sleeping in a little later than usual. But what about the rest of the weekend? Here is a very incomplete list of some awesome activities happening around D.C. and Arlington.

1. Smithsonian Folklife Festival

Where/When: National Mall between the Smithsonian Museums, Washington, D.C. The festival runs June 30, July 1-4 and July 7-11.

Why Go: Independence Day is right around the corner and - for those of you longtime locals - you know that means the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival is about to be in full swing. This year's festival will feature outdoor exhibits on Colombia, the Peace Corps and Rhythm and Blues. Arts and crafts, food concessions and native music will fill the National Mall with scents, sounds and secrets from other cultures.

Pricing: Free to attend.

Why Go: There will be a patriotic parade at 4 p.m., a tug-of-war and a pie eating contest. Expect classic Americana (in one of our country's most historic neighborhoods) on the most patriotic day of the year.

3.

Where/When: , 1911 Fort Myer Dr., Arlington. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: This week, the festival will feature "Caddyshack," starring SNL alums Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. Be sure to bring blankets, low-lying chairs and snacks to make this outdoor movie experience as authentic and comfortable as possible!

Pricing: Free to attend.

4.

Where/When: , 3265 M St. NW, Georgetown. Sunday, noon.

Why Go: Before you indulge in hamburgers, hot dogs and multiple servings of flag cake on Monday, slip a little exercise into your weekend routine. There are several perks to practicing yoga at lululemon: it's free, the store provides all the equipment you need at no charge and the class starts at noon - plenty of time to sleep in!

Pricing: Free to attend.

Where/When: , 1644 31st St. NW, Georgetown. Friday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: This should technically be called the First of July Ice Cream Social, but no matter the date, you should make plans to tour this historic home and enjoy ice cream outdoors in its beautiful gardens. Sounds like summer!

Pricing: Tickets are $10.
