Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Halloween Weekend Planner

Need ideas to get your weekend going? Look no further.

Halloween may not be officially celebrated until Monday, but we've rounded up a few spooky ideas to help you get in the holiday spirit a few days early.

1.

  • Where/When: 1078 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Why Go: Carving a "PAUL" pumpkin is much easier than carving a pumpkin of the regular variety because "PAUL" pumpkins are actually just loaves of bread. Be one of the first to drop by this new, "almost-open" Georgetown bakery. Carvers will also be served a drink and a treat.
  • Pricing: $15

  • Where/When:, 3315 Cadys Alley NW, Washington, D.C. Friday, 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: According to the event listing, "Learn how to inspire romance, obtain wealth, achieve longevity and much more with dozens of magical recipes. The event will feature a palm and tarot card reader as well as specialty cocktails that may enhance your financial success, safety or even love life! Come dressed in your best wizard inspired costume; prizes for best costumes will be awarded."
  • Pricing: Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. All tickets include a copy of the cookbook.

  • Why Go: Take advantage of the crisp fall weather and treat the family to a "Falloween" celebration in Arlington on Saturday. This event will include "trick or treating at local shops and taking part in a children’s costume parade, a petting zoo, face painting, strolling entertainment, and much more!"
  • Pricing: Free to attend.

  • Why Go: Why should humans have all the fun? Dress up your pup and head out to PetMAC in Arlington on Sunday evening for a full-fledged Halloween party, complete with dog-friendly treats, games, a costume contest and special store discounts.
  • Pricing: Free to attend.

5. Halloween Cupcake Class

  • Where/When: , 3100 South St. NW, Washington. Sunday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Learn how to decorate your own batch of spooky cupcakes from gurus Sophie and Katherine.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $65 each.
