Five Things: Oct. 24, 2011

Five things to know about what's going on in and around Arlington.

1. Nominations are being accepted for Arlington's 2012 Notable Trees. Notable trees must have some unique characteristic about them. Winners will be placed on the county's notable tree registry, which can be used by civic associations and walking tours. The county does not have any authority over trees on private property. Nomination deadline is Dec. 15.

2. The Arlington Public Library has a new collection of more than 650 Disney Digitial eBooks.

3. Dogma Bakery in Shirlington is hosting a trick-or-treat with your pup event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. After filling up your bag with pet treats, the business will feature contests, photos and more.
