“It’s a one and a half mile run and everyone tries to raise money beforehand,” said Kym Jordan, who is running in the race as part of the team. “You run in your underwear and it’s outside. It’s freezing out.”
The Cupid's Undie Run on Feb. 9 is a national fundraising event for the foundation that works to find a cure for children with neurofibromatosis.
NF is a disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, causing blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and severe chronic pain, according to the Cupid's Undie run website.
It’s the second year the crew at the Lululemon Clarendon store is participating. One of the ambassadors at the Lululemon Bethesda location is a founder of the DC run, so the idea spread to other DC area stores, Jordan said.
“We all have a really good time,” Jordan said, adding 17 Clarendon store employees will participate.
The happy hour event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wilson Tavern in the Courthouse area at 2403 Wilson Boulevard. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 for various prizes, and happy hour prices at the bar will be extended until 9 p.m. A guest bartender from Lululemon will serve drinks. Call the Wilson Tavern for happy hour prices at 571-970-5330.
