Arlington Native Katie Couric Makes 'Makers' Debut
The journalist and colon cancer-screening advocate, who graduated from Yorktown High School, will be featured on 'Makers,' an AOL and PBS documentary series this spring.
Arlington native Katie Couric, whose journalism career has spanned the globe, is one of the women featured on a new documentary series debuting Tuesday night called “Makers.”
The first episode of the documentary series premieres at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
In her “Makers” episode, Couric talks about her campaign to encourage people to get colonoscopies, the loss of her husband to colon cancer, her admiration of fellow-“Maker” and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and more.

More than 175 women are featured in PBS and AOL’s "Makers" — women, a trailer for the series states, who fight for something bigger than themselves. “Trailblazing women like Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey share their memories, as do countless women who challenged the status quo in industries from coal-mining to medicine,” according to PBS.
