At long last, the new National Children’s Museum at the National Harbor opens tomorrow, Friday December 14th! The 23,000 square foot space has exhibits and programming designed to encourage children to learn through play. The museum will provide a rich indoor experience focusing on play, civic engagement, the environment, the arts, health and well being, and global citizenship. A 60,000 square foot creative outdoor space is scheduled to open in Spring 2014 to include a toddler zone; “challenge mountain” adventure; water play zone; fantasy garden; and a variety of other activities where children can explore, create, and discover the wonders of the natural world. The National Children’s Museum is the only congressionally designated museumdedicated entirely to children and their families and caregivers.
