Someone stole an Arlington man's credit card, used it to order items online, had them delivered to the man's house — and then burglarized the house to retrieve those items, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The man told police he knew he last had the credit card in his possession on May 14.

Three days later, the man received "numerous" packages in the mail at his residence in the 3000 block of North Lee Highway, according to information police released Monday.

The items — "a whole bunch of women's shoes and purses" — were ordered with the stolen card, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

The order consisted of various brands of purses and shoes, Sternbeck said. All of the shoes were the same size, he said.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday — a day after the items arrived at the Lee Highway residence — the man reported a burglary at his residence in which all of the mail-order items were stolen.

Jewelry also was taken during the burglary, Sternbeck said.

Police have no description of a possible suspect, he said.
