This Week's Weather: Possible Storms Tuesday-Wednesday, Cooler Temps

A cold front sweeping into the area early in the week brings cooler temps, chance of thunderstorms on and off through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

This week's weather will start out clear and warm on Monday, but Northern Virginia will likely see increased cloudiness Monday afternoon and possible storms mid-week following the arrival of a cold front.

The cold front is expected to move through late Monday to early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The area will also see increased humidity according to the Capital Weather Gang's Brian Jackson.

The cold front increases the chances for rain on Tuesday, with a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms for both Tuesday and Tuesday night, according to the NWS. (The Weather Channel calls for just a 40 percent chance of rain on Tuesday.)

Chances for rain continue but taper off somewhat after Tuesday, with a 40 percent chance on Wednesday and a 30 percent chance on Thursday.

The high temperatures (in the 90s) the area experienced over the weekend will drop to the low 80s for highs through the week starting Tuesday, according to the NWS.

Next weekend is shaping up to be a bit warmer—with highs in the mid to high 80s—and drier than mid-week.
