StoryCorps to Come to Arlington Library
The program is dedicated to recording American stories.
StoryCorps is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to recording, sharing, and preserving the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs, according to a press release from the organization.
The mobile booth, which is a trailer outfitted with a recording studio, will be parked outside the library and career center for four weeks.
Reservations can be made by calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406 or visiting storycorps.org. Additional reservation slots will open on Sept. 25 at 10 a.m..
All StoryCorps interviews will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
The first interview will take place between Ed Walker, host of WAMU 88.5's longest-running program, The Big Broadcast, and Rob Bamberger, host of WAMU 88.5's Hot Jazz Saturday Night. Walker was elected to the Radio Hall of Fame in 2009.
StoryCorps has partnered with WAMU 88.5, Arlington Public Library, and Arlington Public Schools to collect interviews with residents in the DC metro area.
