Police: Woman Wakes to Find Man Attempting to Have Sex With Her
Spokesman: Victim unsure about pressing charges.
An Arlington woman who had been out with friends this weekend woke early Saturday to find a man she knew trying to have sex with her.
The woman has not decided whether to press charges, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
The woman and man were out drinking late Friday, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
They went to a mutual friend's home in the 2200 block of North Upton Street. She went to sleep on a couch; he went back out drinking with several friends.
Later, the man returned to the home, laid down on the couch with the woman and attempted to have sex with her, Sternbeck said. The woman awoke to find this happening between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police. She asked the man what he was doing, and he got her a glass of water, Sternbeck said. She left.
Sunday, the woman went to the hospital and then filed a police report, Sternbeck said. Police are investigating the matter as a rape case.
The two have not had a romantic relationship in the past, Sternbeck said.
