New Arlington Capital Bikeshare Stations Arriving!

North Arlington finally joins the nation's biggest bike sharing network. Rosslyn and Courthouse will have Capital Bikeshare stations by Wednesday.

Arlington’s Rosslyn and Courthouse neighborhoods will finally get to join the region’s Captial Bikeshare network this week.  Rosslyn will be home to three new stations, and Courthouse will get one.

The stations will be at:

  • North Lynn Street & 19th Street
  • North Fort Meyer Drive and & Wilson Boulevard (Rosslyn Metro)
  • Clarendon Boulevard and North Pierce Street
  • North Uhle Street & 15th Street (Courthouse Metro)

This will bring Arlington’s total to more than 125 CaBi bikes at 18 stations spread between Arlington’s Courthouse, Rosslyn, Crystal City and Pentagon City neighborhoods.

In addition to being a quick and easy way between Arlington neighborhoods, the location of the Rosslyn stations will make bike sharing one of the easiest and quickest ways for residents to get to and from Georgetown.  Since the system operates around the clock, it also presents another solution for Arlingtonians that miss the last Metro train home after an evening out in D.C.

Capital Bikeshare has turned out to be an incredibly popular service in the D.C. area - last week's LivingSocial deal ($37 for a one-year membership) ended up selling more than 8,000 memberships (new and renewal).  More stations will be added along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor in the future.  While the rollout is presently tied to the release of various transportation grants later this year, Capital Bikeshare is actively pursing private sponsorships that could bring new stations to Arlington sooner than planned.
