Multi-Vehicle Wreck Snarls Traffic in Clarendon
Police: Crash sent one vehicle into a building.
Update 9:45 p.m.: Wilson Boulevard has reopened. Police have not released any additional information about the crash.
Original story: Arlington County police are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that happened Saturday afternoon and disabled the traffic signal at Wilson Boulevard and North 10th Street.
One vehicle struck a building as a result of the crash, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. It wasn't immediately clear if that was the same vehicle that disabled the traffic signal.
Preliminary reports indicate at least three vehicles were involved, Sternbeck said.
On the scene, damaged vehicles were in the car lot on the corner of Wilson and 10th. A front corner of the building at 3260 N. Wilson Blvd. was damaged.
The Arlington County Fire Department has transported at least one person to an area hospital, Sternbeck said. The extent of injuries and the number of people involved is unknown.
Police are directing traffic, but do not have an estimated time as to when the signal will be restored. Motorists are advised to expect delays or seek alternate routes through the area, Sternbeck said.
Wilson Boulevard, between Washington and 10th, is closed to all traffic while officers investigate the crash.
