April — Speculation mounted in April around Terry McAuliffe and whether he would run for governor. Washington-Lee baseball students got to hang out with Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson during and after a game. Crystal City was hit particularly hard by changes in Northern Virginia's commercial real estate market.

May — May's most-read story was about a woman from out of town who woke up to find a man trying to have sex with her. Police also told Patch a pregnant woman was raped while seeking financial assistance. Separately, following up on a story from April, an ex-Bishop O'Connell history teacher said he filed two complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights.

June — The June 29 derecho and all stories regarding local damage and power outages were by far the most-read articles on Patch in June. Prior to the storm, Clarendon Cycles columnist Mark Blacknell wrote about the dangers of bollards, and a man jumped to his death from his ninth-story apartment near the Ballston-Virginia Square Metro station.
