Leek Bistro Coming to Ballston

The restaurant will be located at 801 N. Quincy St.

A restaurant that owners describe as a casual fine dining spot is coming to Ballston in October.

“We have high quality food, a wine program, specialty cocktails and a fantastic beverage list, but in a casual atmosphere,” said Nathan Spittal, operating partner at Leek American Bistro. “We want it to be laid back; if you are getting off work you can pop in and you’re more then welcome.”

Leek Bistro is in the final stages of the permitting process and the 4,200-square-foot space will be located at 801 N. Quincy St.

“I suppose if you are in the industry on a serious level, the end game is to have your own place,” said Spittal, who has been in the restaurant business for 16 years. “The time was right and the opportunity presented itself and here we are.”

The restaurant has been in the works since March. The food will be New American, with influences from Asia, Indian and Latin America, Spittal said.

“It is the melting pot of all these cuisines,” Spittal said. “We are also trying to put an emphasis on using local farmers, Virginia vineyards, and produce as much as possible.”

Spittal promises an extensive wine list, with 60 varieties of wine, and about half of them will be available by the glass.

“All of our menu items are already paired with a glass of wine,” Spittal said.

Entrees will be priced between $18 and $28 a dish.

“I think we’re under-market price for the quality of food that we’re going to give,” Spittal said. “That’s what we’re about, giving great quality food at a reasonable price.”
