It's Derby Season! Celebrate with a Classic Mint Julep

It's all about the simple syrup.

There is a great debate about what makes a truly good mint julep. We can all agree that it’s about the mint. But when to add the mint? Some believe it should be muddled into the cocktail, some think it should only act as a garnish and others believe it should be infused in the simple syrup. I’m with the latter. You get a more refined, cleaner mint taste when you let the aroma of the leaves infuse into the water and sugar concoction.

Whatever you prefer, it's Derby season and with Kentucky's biggest race right around the corner, you will want to have this mint julep recipe on hand. In no time, you will feel like you are a part of all the action ... with or without a big, ol' floppy hat to match!
