Washington-Lee High School welcomed "Glee" star Lauren Potter on Friday afternoon.

“It’s amazing. She is so nice, and it’s awesome to have her here,” said Brittany Mirro, a 17-year-old senior and president of Washington-Lee’s Best Buddies Chapter.

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Potter’s visit was a treat for the Washington-Lee Best Buddies group, which raised the most money in donations for the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Washington, D.C., event, which takes place Saturday.

The Best Buddies Challenge is a cycling fundraiser through the district that benefits the organization.

The Washington-Lee chapter has 45 active members.

Potter, an actress with Down syndrome, is known for her role as Becky Jackson on the Fox show "Glee." She is a member of the Best Buddies International board of directors and a member of the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

At least 100 students waited in line to have their photo taken with Potter, who spoke to students about the benefits of Best Buddies.

“I really love Best Buddies,” Potter said. “They have a lot of fun bonding activities.”
