1. Mose Allison Performs at Blues Alley
When/Where: Friday through Sunday two shows each night at 8 and 10 p.m. at Blues Alley (1073 Wisconsin Ave., NW)
Why Go: The Mose Allison Trio plays both soulful and playful songs with enthusiasm that belies the age of its members. Allison's songs have been covered by artists including Van Morrison, The Who, The Clash, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello and Bonnie Raitt.
Price: $25 plus the cost of drinks.
2. Beyond the Parking Lot: The Change and Re-assessment of Our Modern Landscape
When/Where: Exhibit on the Terrace Gallery at the Artisphere at 1101 Wilson Blvd. from noon to 11 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Why Go: The exhibit promises to "motivate the viewer to think how we have used the land that surrounds us in our everyday life," according to a description from the Artisphere. Read a full list of exhibiting artists on the Artisphere site.

3. Washington Nationals Home Games
When/Where: Friday through Sunday the Nationals host the Cardinals with games Friday at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 4:05 p.m. and Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Monday they take on the Cubs at 1:05 p.m.
Why Go: The Nats are looking better and better as the post-season approaches. Go this weekend so you can hop on the bandwagon before anyone accuses you of hopping on the bandwagon!

4. Glover Park-Burleith Farmers' Market and Curbside Crabcakes
When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hardy Middle School (Wisconsin Avenue & 34th Street, NW)
Why Go: Get fresh produce, listen to live music and enjoy hula hoops for the kids. Hungry? From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside Crabcakes will offer a lunch special: $10 for a crabcake, drink and a bag of chips.
Price: Free to stop by, prices vary on items.
5. Family Game Night
When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shirlington Branch Library, 4200 Campbell Ave.
Why Go: Board games, cards, and video games are all provided for families in this free afternoon.
Price: Free
