1. Key Elementary School's 25th Anniversary Celebration

When/Where: Dancing, drinks and live and silent auction all takes place from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the NRECA Conference Center, 4301 Wilson Blvd.; Or, enjoy the potluck picnic with activities, a DJ and giveaways from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the school, 2300 Key Blvd.

Why go: Key Elementary School — better known to many as Escuela Key — is celebrating 25 years of great education. Students, teachers, families, siblings and alumni are all invited. And who doesn't love a potluck?

Cost: It's free, but RSVP here for the Saturday night event.

2. Georgetown Garden Tour

When/Where: Eight homes are featured on the tour and their gardens are open on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Start the tour at Christ Church, 31st and O Streets, NW.

Why go: The 84th annual Garden Tour, hosted by the Georgetown Garden Club, features eight Georgetown gardens that showcase the creativity, skill and taste of the homes they complement. Tickets include admission to an afternoon tea with cookies, tea sandwiches and sweets served at Keith Hall in Christ Church from 2 until 4 p.m.

Cost: $35/person Purchase tickets on the day of the tour at Christ Church.

3. Justin Jones CD Release Shows

When/Where: 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at IOTA Club & Cafe

Why go: Virginia native Justin Jones is playing two shows to coincide with the release of his latest album, "Fading Light." The Washingtonian Magazine has compared Jones' work to Townes Van Zandt and Van Morrison. Find out why. (And support live music!)

Cost: $15 at the door (each night)

4. Flower Mart at the Washington National Cathedral

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Washington National Cathedral Grounds.

Why Go: This spring festival, sponsored by the Cathedral’s All Hallows Guild, features plants, flowers, boutique booths, music, live entertainment, food and antique carousel rides. This year's honored country is Jamaica. There will also be tower climbs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm (except noon) every half hour for $10 per person.

Cost: Admission to the festival is free.

5. Comic Strip! (burlesque/comedy show)

When/Where: 7 p.m. Friday at the State Theatre
