Gardeners can learn how to mark their plant labels in a high-tech way via QR (quick response) codes.
The Arlington County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension, with the support of Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia, is hosting the free workshop. The workshop will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 at the Fairlington Community Center at 3308 S. Stafford St. in Arlington.
According to an announcement from the group, the labels are cost effective and work for anyone working in home gardens, community gardens, parks, schoolyards and other public spaces. The QR codes allow readers to scan the codes with their smartphones and pull up a host of associated information about the plant.
Participants are encouraged to bring a smartphone to test out QR code scanning.
Space is limited. Register early at mgnv.org or by calling the Horticultural Help Desk at 703-228-6414.
