County: Water Main at Arlington Boulevard & Irving Street Fixed

Officials will monitor the system over the weekend.

The Arlington County Department of Environmental Services announced Saturday the broken water main that's affected multiple neighborhoods has been fixed.

Crews restored service to the 30-inch main on Friday and the county's water pressure has been stable for about 20 hours, the department stated in an email today.

The main, which is more than 60 years old, broke on Jan. 16 and crews worked up to 16 hours a day to fix it, according to the county.

Residents in Alcova Heights, Arlington Heights, Barcroft, Buckingham, Douglas Park, Lyon Park and Penrose nearby areas have been affected, primarily by experiencing low water pressure.

The county will continue to monitor the system through the weekend.

Residents with concerns can call the county's water emergency hotline at 703-228-6555.
