Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Today is Car-Free Day

Thousands take the pledge.

Today is Car-Free Day worldwide, and advocates in the Washington metro area are encouraging people to try out one day without the four wheels.

Each Sept. 22, drivers take the pledge to either drive less or go completely car free. This year, more than 6,000 are participating, according to the Car-Free Day local website. Representative will have a booth at Clarendon Day with more information.

The event is sponsored locally by public transportation groups such as ART, WMATA and the Fairfax Connector.

For more information, visit their website.

If you're within walking distance of Clarendon, be sure to stop by Patch's tent at Clarendon Day!
