The once stalled Bromptons at Cherrydale condominium at 3800 Lee Highway is nearing completion. Construction was nearly complete back in 2006 and most of the  22 units were under contract. And then foundation issues were discovered and the lawsuits started flying. Deposits were returned but the future of the project was up in the air.

For the past several years the building sat empty, wasting away, as the developer, now going by the name R15, and the county fought it out. The County Board approved a settlement agreement with the developer to repair and complete the building or pay for the demolition.

If you go by there today, you will see work crews finishing up some of the ground floor retail spaces. Balconies have been affixed to the units and the exterior brick has been completed. Much to the relief of the Brompton at Cherrydale townhome owners behind the condo, sheets of Tyvek insulation are no longer flapping in the wind.

The condos were initially priced on the high side in the condo frenzied market of 2005. It remains to be seen where they will be priced the second time around.
