Body Found in Virginia Square

Police: Victim appears to be a homeless man.

The Arlington County Police Department is investigating a body found this morning behind a trash bin in Virginia Square.

Officers arrived in the 3900 block of Fairfax Drive – not far from Arlington Central Library – at 10:37 a.m., police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.

The victim appears to be a homeless man in his 40s, Sternbeck said. The man had no identification on him.

He was taken to the local medical examiner's office and pronounced dead.

It's unclear who found the man, Sternbeck said.

"It's still part of the investigation how long the individual was actually there and the circumstances" of his death, Sternbeck said.

Investigators do not suspect foul play at this time, he said.
