Blogroll: The Seller's Market, Gearing Up for Spring Training & More
An Arlington-focused roundup of what's being said in the blogosphere.
Stop Hitting Your Brother is a neat blog by Arlington resident Scott Nathanson, a Little League baseball coach and self-described first-class nerd. This is a blog we found out about through our Facebook page, which is always a treat. With spring training open in Arlington, Nathanson gives a thorough initial review of the Halo baseball hat protective insert and weighs the pros and cons of this new piece of protective gear. Do you have a slugger getting ready for baseball season? Check out Nathanson's blog here.

Two hunts will be held, one for children 4 and under and another for ages 5 to 15. The Easter Bunny will be on hand and five golden eggs will be carefully hidden. More information — including on how to help beforehand — can be found here.

Arlington VA Real Estate News is another blog that we found out about on our Facebook page. One post in particular from mid-February offers some interesting insight to the local real estate market. Among the tidbits of information:
- Total of 132 properties sold in Arlington in January, nearly a quarter of them at or above the asking price.
- Twenty-six of those were cash transactions.
- Only eight were foreclosures.
Check out this post for more information. Poke around the site and you'll also find recent information on the markets in McLean, Falls Church and the district.

Washington Capitals owner and renowned investor Ted Leonsis posts on his blog that Courage Caps hats and T-shirts are back. The sale of this gear supports the nonprofit Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, or TAPS, which assists families coping with the death of someone who died while serving in the military. Ted's Take is here, and the news release on the gear — available today — is here.

Among the Local Voices contributions to Arlington Patch and Clarendon Patch this week we had a new post from Rosslyn-based uKnowKids about the importance of installing location-monitoring on your child's phone, and Tim Wise from the Arlington County Taxpayers Association weighs in on the county budget and provides a regional comparison of different jurisdictions' current tax rates and their advertised tax increase ceilings.
Did you know? Anyone can blog for Patch. On some of our Patches, local bloggers like to post a few paragraphs teasing their own sites and then link out to them. And that's perfectly fine. One of Patch's goals is to be a community hub — and so this this is an effort to showcase some of the contributors to that community.
The following blogroll is a work in progress. We'll be adding to it regularly. Did we miss your favorite? Feel free to suggest local blogs for our list in the comments section below.
