Bites Nearby: Sweetgreen

Lunch, dinner or late-night, Sweetgreen offers up fresh salads and fro-yo.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

SWEETGREEN — It's still cold outside, but a Sweetgreen salad can transport you to a more exotic locale. Try the "Bondi," tossed with a miso vinegarette, avocado and hearts of palm. Or the "Curry Gold," with dried cranberries, beets and a curried pineapple yogurt dressing.

And the tart frozen yogurt, made with organic New Hampshire-based Stonyfield Farm yogurt, gives Pinkberry a run for its money.

It's open for lunch through the late-night hours, in case you're looking for a healthier alternative to the standard apres-bar burger and fries.

The Georgetown address is 3333 M St. NW. There's also a Sweetgreen at 4075 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Va.

Open daily for lunch and dinner. Salads range in price, from about $8 to $12, depending on toppings. Check out www.sweetgreen.com for hours and other nearby locations.

Enough with the salads and cupcakes in Georgetown. All things considered I would prefer the return of THE LITTLE TAVERN to this historic building that now houses this little lettuce factory.
