Best of Patch: Liberty Tavern Wins Inaugural Contest
Readers pick Clarendon eatery as best 'distinctly Arlington' restaurant to take out-of-town guests.
When President Barack Obama had out-of-town guests to entertain last fall, he picked The Liberty Tavern.
And so did Clarendon Patch readers in our inaugural Best of Patch contest. Readers were asked to pick the best "distinctly Arlington" restaurant they'd choose to take family and friends from out-of-town.
The Liberty Tavern won 53 percent of the vote, pulling ahead by a substantial margin in the final days of the week-long contest.
Ray's the Steaks placed second with a respectable 15 percent of the vote, and Whitlow's on Wilson came in third with 8 percent.
In Ballston, readers chose Uncle Julio's Rio Grand Cafe as the best place to celebrate. In Georgetown, readers chose the Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons as having the best cocktails. La Strada in Del Ray won the best Italian restaurant in Alexandria. And the Lazy Sundae and Mike's Deli won the best breakfast menu in Falls Church.
Congratulations to all of our winners!
