The elderly woman who was struck by a taxi Wednesday morning in front of the Ballston Public Parking Garage has died, the Arlington County Police Department announced today.

Madela Anez de Walsh, 76, of Arlington, died at about noon today from the injuries she sustained.

De Walsh was crossing North Carlin Springs Road at North Glebe shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when she was hit by a cab and suffered a severe head injury, according to a news release.

She was transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital following the incident.

The taxi driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, the news release states.

The driver does not face any charges at this time, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck stated in a message to Patch.
