Arlington Schools Seeks Input on New Boundaries

A community meeting is scheduled for Thursday.

Arlington Public Schools is looking for feedback on developing boundaries for a proposed new elementary school on the Williamsburg Middle School campus.

The community meeting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at 3600 N. Harrison St., Williamsburg Middle School.

In the past five years, the number of students in the school system has grown by 28 percent, according to APS. The new $28.1 million elementary school on Williamsburg’s campus would add 600 seats.

On Nov. 6, Arlington voters will make a decision on $42.6 million in school bonds that would fund the project and several others for the school system.

The Arlington School Board plans to examine boundary issues later this fall, with the goal being to relieve crowding at neighboring elementary schools. Staff will be taking notes at Thursday’s meeting of feedback from parents.

If you can’t make the meeting, a survey has been created to offer feedback. The survey is available online.
